Don McQueen's Bush Poetry recitals have become a feature of many guest speaking engagements throughout Australia.

He has been acclaimed as the Bush Poet of the Year now on six different occasions.

Don's passion for Australian history and poetry recitals have given rise to his invitations to perform at Australia Day, Anzac Day Ceremonies, Conferences, Dinners, Weddings, Funerals and other celebratory events for some years now.

His involvement in Community affairs is widely known and in 2006 was awarded an Australia day Citizen of the Year Award by the Shire of Murrindindi.

He is a Life Member of the both the Old Haileyburians Amateur Football Club and the Camberwell Cricket Club and a member of the Rotary E Club of Rotary Nomads.

His love of Australian Bush Poetry is shared by his love for the game of cricket which culminated in his creation of the Hume and Hovell Cricket Ground at Strath Creek, a 'Village Green' English cricket ground in the heart of the Australian bush.

This Cricket Ground has given immense enjoyment to many cricket lovers from all over the World with its beautiful natural Bush setting

In November 2014 he was awarded with a Certificate of Appreciation by Cricket Victoria in recognition of 50 years of outstanding service to cricket in Victoria.

In December 2015 Don was admitted to the "Fifty Years of Melbourne Cricket Club Membership group"

In June 2018, Don was awarded the highest honour in Rotary International for services to Community, a Paul Harris Fellow.

I highly recommended Don McQueen to perform his Australian Bush Poetry. He spoke very clearly, and all my residents could hear him and enjoyed his performance immensely. They have asked him to come back.

Don has many different Poems all delivered in classical Bush style. I engaged him for our Australia Day Celebration. I would be happy to recommend him for other facilities.
